Ripple chief executive Brad Garlinghouse pushed back against claims that the company has moved on from XRP in favor of its RLUSD stablecoin, telling the opening of the Swell 2026 conference in New York that Ripple will "never give up on XRP," according to TipRanks. He described the two assets as complementary and said abandoning XRP would make no sense for the business.

The 10th edition of Swell ran Oct. 27 to 29 at The Shed in Manhattan and, for the first time, was combined with the XRPL Apex developer summit. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appeared alongside Garlinghouse at the opening.

Custody and partnership news

Several announcements during the week touched XRP directly. BNY now supports both XRP and RLUSD on its institutional digital asset custody platform, and the two companies plan to explore tokenized trade finance on the XRP Ledger, CryptoPotato reported. Ripple also unveiled a broad partnership with Robinhood under which the broker will use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement, and said supply-chain finance firm C2FO will move financing and settlement for its Instant Pay platform onto the ledger.

Ripple said in an Oct. 28 statement that it expects to end 2026 with $900 million in annualized product revenue. RLUSD's market value has reached about $2.6 billion, with supply split roughly evenly between the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, TipRanks reported. Admirals noted that Ripple's figures are unaudited.

The headlines have not lifted the token so far. XRP traded at $1.29 on Thursday, down 2.48% on the day, according to TipRanks, close to its October lows and about 64% below its July 2025 record of $3.65, Admirals data show. Admirals also pointed out that XRP closed lower two weeks after each of the last five in-person Swell events, a small sample.

The next supply event comes on Nov. 1, when up to 1 billion XRP is scheduled to be released from escrow.
