Sony Group on Oct. 29 opened a global incubation program for startups and creators building entertainment products on Soneium, the Ethereum layer 2 network it developed with Startale Group, according to TokenPost and crypto.news.

The Sony Onchain Entertainment Incubation Program accepts applications from October through December 2026, with screening expected to run until March 2027. It is open worldwide to projects already live on Soneium or planning to launch there. Selected teams get access to the network's technical infrastructure along with business development, marketing, community and financing support, and may work with other Sony group companies.

Sony said it wants to help projects move from technical validation toward commercial use. Applications will be judged on the originality of the entertainment experience, use of intellectual property, community building, scalability and competitive position. The company is particularly interested in products that combine digital content, fan communities and digital assets, crypto.news reported. No fixed investment amount has been disclosed.

A third round

The program follows two earlier incubation rounds that have supported 43 projects since 2024, including the Soneium For All gaming incubator launched in June 2025. Soneium's mainnet went live in January 2025, and Startale reported more than 500 million transactions and over 250 supported applications as of January 2026.

The launch comes days after Sony outlined a tokenized entertainment push on Oct. 26, including a proposed native SONEIUM token and a Tokenized IP initiative that would let companies and creators issue digital assets linked to specific properties. The token has not been issued, and no launch date, supply or distribution details have been published.

Soneium runs on the OP Stack and in September adopted OP Labs' OP Enterprise services for monitoring, upgrades and incident response. In a layer 2 market where several smaller networks, including Blast and Sophon, have announced shutdowns this year, Sony is betting that its catalogue of intellectual property, rather than token incentives, can draw users onchain.
