Eight lawmakers led by Senator Adam Schiff of California sent a letter to the White House on Thursday, October 22, seeking information about a planned dinner for holders of the Official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin, Mother Jones reported. The event is scheduled for November 22 at President Donald Trump's golf club in the Washington area.
Invitations go to the top 185 coin holders, and the top 29 also receive access to a VIP reception. The event website states there will be no private meetings with the president and no gifts will be accepted. A CBS News investigation found that half of the top 100 holders trade on exchanges that bar US citizens.
The letter asks for an unredacted log of attendees, including their corporate and foreign affiliations, within 10 days of the gala, and asks the White House to preserve related records. The White House did not respond to a request for comment. Two earlier exclusive events for holders took place, one at Mar-a-Lago and one at the same Virginia golf club.
TRUMP launched in January 2025 at about $74 and traded around $1.75 on October 22. A June analysis cited by the publication found that more than 1 million investors lost about $3.8 billion combined, while Trump's latest personal financial disclosure indicates he earned about $635 million from the arrangement.
