Pump.fun, the Solana memecoin launchpad, has added perpetual futures trading to its app, giving users access to more than 300 markets run on Hyperliquid's infrastructure, according to TokenPost. Cointelegraph first reported the launch on Oct. 28. The markets cover cryptocurrencies as well as contracts tied to stocks and commodities.
Users can fund positions straight from their wallets with USDC or SOL, without bridging assets to another chain, and can go long or short. Maximum leverage varies by market: up to 50x on the S&P 500, 40x on Bitcoin, 25x on Ether and 20x each on Tesla and Nvidia, TokenPost reported.
Positions use isolated margin. Traders can set profit targets and stop-loss levels when opening a trade and add collateral later. Orders are routed to Hyperliquid's on-chain perpetuals engine, which holds collateral and manages open positions, so users can also reach the same Hyperliquid accounts through other front ends. The app includes social features branded as Callout and follow rewards.
A new fee line for the launchpad
Pump.fun charges 0.05% per trade on top of Hyperliquid's standard fees. That gives the platform a revenue stream that does not depend on new token launches, at a time when memecoin activity has thinned out. CryptoQuant data cited by CryptoPotato earlier this month showed memecoins' share of total altcoin market capitalization had dropped below 3%, a record low, with more than $1.4 billion in cumulative memecoin selling on Binance since Bitcoin's October peak.
The launch also fits a broader rush to plug into Hyperliquid. The same week, NYSE owner ICE agreed to operate a regulated US perpetual futures venue built by Hyperliquid-based Trade[XYZ]. For Pump.fun, the bet is that a user base used to trading high-risk tokens will also trade leveraged contracts on mainstream assets without leaving the app.
