Ethereum core developers have postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet, which had been scheduled for October 26 at 17:42:48 UTC. The decision was taken on All Core Developers Execution call #248, and the Ethereum Foundation updated its announcement on October 22. The delay also covers the planned increase of Hoodi's gas limit to 200 million. No replacement date has been set.

Developers cited the need to investigate further how EIP-8037, which raises the gas cost of state creation, interacts with mainnet smart contracts. A ChainSecurity analysis from October 13 examined its interplay with EIP-8038. Under the proposed rules, some contracts could permanently record failed operations, and creating a new storage slot could cost 110,020 gas instead of 22,100. ChainSecurity identified 13 affected contracts and started responsible disclosure.

Glamsterdam already went live on the Sepolia testnet on October 6. The upgrade bundles 18 scheduled EIPs, including enshrined proposer-builder separation (EIP-7732) and block-level access lists (EIP-7928). Developers had been considering early December for mainnet activation. The Ethereum Foundation says mainnet users and ETH holders do not need to take any action.
