The developers of Electrum, one of the oldest Bitcoin wallets, asked users on October 24 to install version 4.8.3 as soon as possible. They say the release fixes a critical security issue.

The update is available on Electrum's official website, which also publishes digital signatures and instructions for verifying the downloaded files. Fake wallet downloads are a common way to steal funds, so check the signature before installing and never use links from ads or messages.
