Blur will close its frontend, the web interface through which users access the NFT marketplace, in November 2026. The onchain marketplace protocol will keep running, and BLUR will still control its fee switch. The announcement comes after a long decline in activity on what was one of the most heavily traded NFT venues of the last cycle.

Blend, Blur's lending product, will stop matching new loans on November 12, 2026. Borrowers can repay before then or let their loans default. After that date, Blur plans to offer a frontend tool to help users withdraw their assets from Blend.

According to data from The Block, Blur's monthly trading volume peaked at about $1.43 billion in March 2023 and had fallen below $7 million by March 2026. The BLUR token dropped more than 20% after the announcement to about $0.015, a market capitalization of roughly $44 million. It traded above $5 in early 2023.

The move follows wind-down announcements from Ethereum Layer 2 networks Blast on October 2 and Abstract on October 6. Blast was created by Blur founder Tieshun Roquerre, known as Pacman, and built by the same core team. Blur drew criticism for its low creator-royalty policy and for incentives that critics linked to airdrop farming and suspected wash trading.
