BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes said on October 24 that his family office, Maelstrom, has closed its directional positions. The assets sold include ETH, Ethena's ENA and Uniswap's UNI.
Hayes described the exits as profit-taking driven by economic and geopolitical concerns. He said Maelstrom will return to these trades once conditions improve but did not give a timeline.
The announcement came on the same day Bitcoin briefly dropped below $80,000 and more than $400 million in long positions were liquidated across the market.
